Bobby Harold Smith, 81, of Texarkana, TX, passed away on October 13, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born to Mae Pearl and Charles James Smith on August 23, 1938 in Earle, Arkansas.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Audrey, brother, Thomas Dees and wife Alicia of Humble, Tx; his five daughters; Leighann and Keith Gossett of San Leon, Tx, Gena and Dan Wienserski of San Leon, Tx, Cassie and Gary Turner of Friendswood, Tx, Heidi and Todd Ramsey of Mont Belvieu, Tx, and Donna Falls of Texarkana, AR., along with his 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mae Pearl Lowder; daughter Sue McCormick and granddaughter Victoria Sharp. He proudly served four years the in the U.S. Navy as well as supported the American Legion. He was also the governor of the Moose Lodge in Corpus Christi. He retired with 30 years of civil service where he was an avid blood donor and enjoyed 12 years of transportation for the Pleasant Grove Independent School District. He was a huge Alabama football fan and loved traveling, new cars, and the outdoor life. Bobby loved life and lived it without fear. He cherished his wife, was protective of his brother, and adored his daughters and their families.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at East Funeral Home-Downtown officiated by Bro. Brad Watson. Entombment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at East Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
