Alice Ruth Bocox, 93, of Ashdown, AR passed away March 9, 2020 in a local nursing home. Alice was born October 8, 1926 in Ogden, AR. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, AR; a member of the Womens Auxiliary Corp; and retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant.
Alice had the sweetest and kindest heart of anyone you ever met. She was an incredible cook; loved to fish and take her grandkids camping. She was a gardener and had an excellent green thumb.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Ward and Harold Bocox.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Jack Smith of Brandon, MS and Martha and John Gay of New Boston, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Diane Bocox of Texarkana, TX; brother, Ray Starkey of Texarkana, AR; sisters and brother-in-law, Doris and Prentice Scoggins of Irving, TX and Martha Grigson of Texarkana, TX; special cousin, Joe Ward; grandchildren, Shannon Shipp, Jenny Moyer, Lana Easterling, Autumn Dawson and Amy Cook; several great grandchildren and other family members and wonderful in-laws.
Special thank you to the staff at The Retreat at Kenwood who took incredible care of her.
Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2020 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with Chaplain Brian Hevrin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
