Robert Neal Hilley, of Elmo, passed away March 17, 2015 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Robert was born Dec. 6, 1949 in Stillwater, OK to Robert B. and Martha H. (Voight) Hilley, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in the Wilmer-Hutchins area and graduated from high school there after which he began his long career as a machine sealer with Western Electric, which in turn became AT&T, Lucent and most recently Tyco, Inc. Robert moved to Elmo so that he could enjoy the quiet country living. His greatest joy was to spend his time tinkering on different projects and visiting with family and friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Betty Hilley of Elmo; children: Matt Herrmann and wife, Tammy of Gun Barrel City, Todd Herrmann and wife, Andrea, of Heartland, Cynthia Jackson and husband, Junior, of DeSoto, Jennifer Weaver of Elmo, Robbie Hilley of DeSoto and Jessica Hogg of Joaquim, TX; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; siblings: Val Hilley and wife, Jackie, Nina Hilley, Jan Hull and husband, Harry and John Hilley, several nieces and nephews and all the Elmo VFD especially Lt. Greg Rushing, all of whom helped the family tremendously during Robert’s illness and made each day better for him. A Celebration of Life is planned for Robert at 3:00pm, Friday, March 19, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Chapel.
