Ollie Faye Lawson of Irving, TX passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. In her last few days she was surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and close friends. Ollie was born February 18, 1931 to Harry and Ethel Turner of Terrell, TX. She was reunited in heaven with her husband of 42 years Clarence, son James, parents, grandparents and 5 brothers and sisters. Ollie was a long time resident of Irving, TX. Living in the family home for over 54 years. In her early days in Irving she learned to swim through red cross swimming lessons, and then continued to teach others to swim through the same lessons she herself had learned in. In her later years she even managed to get back to the pool with many of her Senior friends on a weekly basis. Ollie loved people and enjoyed working in the public. She worked for Safeway for 26 years until they closed all of their Texas stores, leading her into retirement. After a short time off she went back to work for Minyard’s for another 11 years. To say she enjoyed reading would be an understatement as she read hundreds and possibly thousands of books. This may have been prompted by the motherly instinct of waiting up on her children when they were out all hours of the night. She would always be up with a book in hand, ready to see how your evening went. Ollie loved to crochet afghan’s, put together jigsaw puzzles, playing card games and dominos. When the kids and grandkids would show up you could always expect a fierce game of cards or dominos, and you better not get caught trying to cheat no matter how old you were. Ollie always had her door open to the neighborhood kids and kept coloring books and such for their entertainment. She loved Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie and a Dr. Pepper and was always ready to share one if you were in the mood. Ollie will be missed by all who knew and loved her, she was a true inspiration and would light up a day with her laughter and a smile. She will leave her legacy in the hands of her children: Marcia Bedsole and her husband Ronnie of Grand Prairie, TX., Donald Lawson and his wife Barbra of Canton, TX., and Doug Lawson and his wife Lisa of Canton, TX. Eight Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren, one Great, Great Grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
