James Daniel Lewis “JD”, age 82, of Rockwall, Texas formally of Chattanooga, Tennessee died in Rockwall, Texas on November 3, 2015. He was a graduate of Hixson High School in 1951. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he lettered in football. In 1953, he transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan College to play football until 1955. He was voted most athletic in 1954 while in college at Tennessee Wesleyan. JD graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Coach Lewis began his career at Red Bank High School teaching Biology and was assistant coach of the football team and head coach of the baseball team. He later pursued a Masters Degree at Middle Tennessee State Teachers College. After retirement, JD moved to Dallas, TX where he later became a partner of Clements Antiques of Forney, TX. James Daniel Lewis was born on March 31, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lewis preceded him in death along with his sister. He was survived by his wife, Wanda Clements Lewis, and children Danny Lewis of Gatlinburg, TN, Becky (Ken) Smith of Dalton, GA, Cliff (Becky) Lewis of Heath, TX, Scott (Kirsten) Lewis of Heath, TX, and Candy (Steve) Dunson of Rockwall, TX. Also, survived by thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with his brothers and sisters; Melvin (Pat) Lewis of Hixson, TN, Robert (Dimple) Lewis of Hixson, TN, Glenda (Jim) Bramble of Dunlap, TN, Diane Lewis of Chattanooga, TN, Jerry Lewis of Chattanooga, TN and several nieces and nephews.
