Grady Ray Moore passed away on August 14, 2015. Grady was born on March 28, 1925 in Meadow, Texas to Albert Moore and Minnie Davis Moore, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved first wife Eula Moore in 1977 and his devoted second wife, Louise Moore along with his other eight sisters and brothers. Growing up as the baby in a family, Grady learned early that family ties were very important. Throughout his life he surrounded himself and his own children with family and friends that were as close as family. During World War II Grady proudly served in the US Navy on Admiral Hill’s personal staff. After the war, he began his lifelong career as the concierge at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Dallas. During his tenure with the Sheraton, in the capacity of his position, he was fortunate to meet and serve such notables as John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Gene Autry, Elizabeth Taylor, Ann Margaret, Gayle Sayers and a host of other athletes and film stars. His strong work ethic along with his wonderful and generous spirit enabled him to be not only a well-respected employee but also a sought after connection for so many who were traveling or vacationing. Grady loved spending time with family and friends. As a young family, he and Eula set the example for both sides of their families by inviting everyone to their home for good food, to play games and just enjoy visiting and being around each other. Vacations were a massive family affair with both sides being so close there was no concept of “different sides of the family.” Many memories were made simply by encouraging the entire family to spend every precious moment together and living life to the fullest. His love for everyone he met will truly be a legacy that his family and many friends will carry on. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Deborah (Debbie) Peden and husband Jowell, of Terrell, Sharon McDonald of Mesquite; grandchildren: Jeff Peden and wife Michelle, Gerald Peden and wife Barbara, Blake McDonald, Anna Hernandez and husband Francisco; great grandchildren: Mason, Kasie, Lacy, Grace, Lucas, Zayne, Parker and Carson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. A celebration of Grady’s life will be held Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with a private burial to follow
