Hello,
I was quite saddened to hear about Paul's death.  I with two other friends played a lot of golf with Paul and shared a lot of good times at restaurants (mostly pubs). Sadly we lost touch during the pandemic and we were never able to organize to meet up.

Paul was very funny and we had great conversations together.  He often talked about his daughters.  

I would have wanted to say goodbye to Paul.  Even though we lost touch, I considered him to be a good friend.

Each person has contributed to who I am in some way, shape, or form, and for that I am grateful. There are certain people, though -- the ones who have a very special place in your heart. The ones you will never forget and can't thank God enough for crossing your paths

Paul was a great friend in Blackrock College.
I have fond memories of half days playing and swimming with him in Seapoint.

Paul’s greatest achievement was the wonderful family he and Dian created. And we know they will miss him. We will remember all the good times with him .

This is sad news. Paul and I were pals for the four years that I attended Blackrock College (I was a late arrival). I only met Paul once after school at a class reunion. 

Paul was great company and we shared many laughs I remember Paul every time I travel on the DART train that passes his home in Ardenza Terrace. 

He will live on the memories of the class of 1964. 

How sad I was to learn of Paul’s death. It was about ten years ago when I got a email from Paul out of the blue, asking if I was the Brian Kelly who worked in Goldhanger Fruit Farms in the UK with him away back in 1964/5. We recalled many good storeys and kept in touch since then. I really enjoyed his comments and observations on so many topics.  Very sadly missed.  My condolences to his family. 

Very sad news indeed. We were school pals in Willow Park and Blackrock College, very fond memories of the many fun times we had in Ardenza Terrace .

Paul and I spent many good moments in Blackrock College   A good friend   May He  rest in peace    Deepest sympathy to all on your loss. 

Well now,  my bucket list included to visit with Paul up in Canada from North Carolina and the last time a few years ago I was in Toronto for a niece's wedding.  I phoned his number saying that I could not find Hurley's Pub thinking it was in Toronto.  He told his class mate that I must be an eejitt as he lived in Montreal.  I loved his posts and noticed the pride he had with his three daughters.  I felt a kinship with him as I have three daughters also.  My life is a little empty now. Condolences to his family and the friends that I never met.

I am so sad to hear of Pauls death. we were class mates in Blackrock College. I remember  as a jovial individual. Condolences to his family.

I wish I had a photo of Paul and I back in the days when we played in Seapoint on half days off from Willow Park and Blackrock College.
He was a dear friend from our school days and I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing.  We were in school together both in Willow Park and Blackrock College.
He was a regular poster on Facebook and when these disappeared I had wondered.
I tried to get him to join in email discussion several times. It would have been interesting to know how his life shaped after 1964 and what brought him to Canada.

Paul was my younger brother and  I can only say how gratifying it is that so many have spoken kindly of him. My deepest sympathy goes to Diane and to his daughters Erin, Isabel and Fiona.  RIP  Paul.

I was really saddened to learn of Paul's passing.  We both grew up together in Blackrock in Dublin and he was one of my oldest friends. Although we might have our disagreements and could fall out from time to time, there was nothing unusual about that and I have nothing but fond memories of Paul.
May I offer my heartfelt condolences to Dian, Erin, Isabelle and Fiona. 

Really lovely to read the comments of his Canadian friends. He was really enjoying painting and had even stopped complaining about the snow!  I wonder is he eating Lample pie wherever he is?

I am Paul's brother and I just wanted to say that it is very nice to read so many lovely comments and to know that he had the company of loving friends to the end.

You were greeted by Mark, and I’m sure the two of you welcomed Darlene with open arms.  You were a great part of what made the horseshoe bar at Hurleys such an interesting place to meet old friends and new alike.  Your presence will be missed, but we will always save you a seat...

Both Alison and I would like to express our most heartfelt sympathy to Paul’s family. In so many of our conversations, he would proudly speak of what his daughters were achieving and you could sense the immense pride he felt in that. We remember how excited he was learning to cook a vegetarian Xmas dinner for his three girls.

Paul was a truly interesting person to talk to, remarkably well-read, and was never at a loss for an opinion on matters of the day. He enjoyed a good laugh, but equally a good philosophical discussion or spirited debate. He loved his rugby and abhorred any discussion of hockey!

In a fond sense, Paul typified Yeats’ quote “Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy”

We will miss his smile, his curmudgeonly ways, but mostly, we will miss a dear friend who left us far too soon.

Paul never ceased to bring a smile to Francine and I whenever we crossed paths.  Charming and grumpy, cantankerous and caring we will miss him greatly.  Condolences to his daughters and family.


Paul just wanted to be one of the boys and to do only what he considered to be right we had so many discussion about everything, except hockey lol with Paul you would always get a straight answer, and is opinion , wanted or not lol I will miss you my dear friend thank you for all the great advice you gave me , hope you're enjoying a pint or two , all my sincere condolences to his family, he will be miss

Paul or Pauly as I liked to call him, it drove him crazy- then he'd smile.  He was always ready to have a good chat, and loved to be the devil's advocate- that drove me crazy.  He called me Liffey after a river in Ireland, seeing as my name was Shannon, oh Paul. always Liffey.  He was an unexpected friend (aren't those the best) and I will miss him . Paul and I talked about painting and watercolor, with me jumping right in and him saying he didn"t want to make a mistake- he was always going to start on the weekend... He criticized my work when I'd show him- but only with a constructive criticizism that would make me strive to be better. 
My thoughts are with his family and his daughters whom he cherished dearly.  Rattle that chair on the floor, make some noise and lead on Paul Cully, lead on.  I will miss him.

I will always remember Paul for his kind soul and warm and silly smile. It was great to pull up a chair next to him at the pub and share a pint, a chat and—without fail—a laugh.  He had a way with words and speaking to him was thought-provoking and fulfilling.  Paul was from another era, there are few like him left. My condolences to his family—he will be missed. 

I am so sad to hear of Paul's passing.  He was such a lovely jovial man, and l thoroughly enjoyed his company at Hurleys on many evenings!  The conversation was always lively and interesting.  I will miss seeing his smiley face when we can finally get back to normal and will certainly be raising a glass or three in his memory.  My sincerest condolences to his family.
