Terry Wayne, “Mila Skopa” Malone, Sr. passed away on November 15, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 24, 1947 to Charles and Goldie (Rogers) Malone. Terry served as a weapons specialist in the United States Army and trained troops in Panama during the Vietnam War. He was active in educating people about Native American culture and respect for people of all backgrounds and ethnicities. He was an expert at beading and Native American crafts. His love for his heritage led him to own and operate Mila Skopa Trading Post for many years. Terry was a generous man with a loving heart and a gift for forgiveness. Terry also had a wonderful sense of humor and always gave excellent advice. He was well-loved as a son, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor.
Terry is survived by his mother, Goldie Malone of Danville, IL; daughter Angela Yambo, her husband Tony, and their children, Alexander and Kirklan (Matthew) Livingston, all of Terre Haute, son Terry Malone II and his children Krystina, Trent, Gerald, and Willow Malone, all of Terre Haute, daughter, Pamela Malone Gresham, her husband Chris and their children, Marvin Malone and Mitchell Malone Gresham, all of Terre Haute; brothers, Tony Malone of Marshall, IL, Chuck Malone, of Danville, IL, and Brad Malone of Goodells, MI; nieces and nephews, Jenny, Julie, Nikki, Michael, Adam, Larisa, A.C., and Cierra; his Native American brother, Rob Kelley and family; close friend, Dusty Allen; Phyllis and Steve Snow; and special friends, Carol Laycock and Jan King.
He was preceded in death by his father and a niece, Michelle Malone.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 18 from 4 to 8 pm and Saturday, November 19 from noon until 1 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be on Saturday, November 19 at 1 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by American Legion Post 346.
