Stephen Michael Lewis

He was a graduate of Garfield High School class of 1971, and served the Terre Haute community as a Police Officer for over 30 years. After retirement, he served the Vigo County community as a Process Server. Prior to his law enforcement career, Stephen was a welder and pipe fitter.

Stephen was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Past Master Mason of F. & AM Lodge 86, Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Lodge 43.

He was an avid outdoorsman, boating, camping, and riding motorcycles were some of his favorite activities with his family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; and two brothers, Christopher and James Patrick.

Surviving are his son, Matthew Lewis; five grandchildren, Gage, Daniel, Natalie, Aurora and Ariel; a brother, John Lewis and a sister, Nancy Hay and husband John; nephews, Travis, Aaron, Ryan; nieces, Audrea and Brianna; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1 PM at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with Honors to Follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
