Obituary of Roberta Lynn Evans
Roberta "Bert" Lynn (Bell) Evans, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away on July 14, 2022, after a year-long battle with leukemia. Bert was born in Indianapolis to her mother, Edna, and her father, Robert. She graduated from Franklin Central High School, majored in music education at Ball State University, and earned her master's degree in elementary education at Indiana State University. Bert touched countless lives through her many years as a teacher, most at Montezuma Elementary. After retirement, she went on to be an advisor to student teachers at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. She was a faithful member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church for over 35 years. She served on many different committees; sang in the choir; played piano; and helped with their community theatre program. She was a lover of pugs, a fierce competitor in euchre, a gardener, and a fantastic chef and baker. Most of all, she loved her family and delighted in being a "Grammie." She was an amazing role model, wife, mother, and grandmother who touched everyone who knew her. Bert was predeceased by her mother; her father; her brother, Steve Bell; and her cousin Jane Lindstaedt. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Michael; her sons, Greg Chiado (Carrie) and Dan Chiado (Annie); her daughter, Lindsey MonBarren (Justin); her beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Jillian, Penny, Cole, Alex, and Max; her cousin Virginia Cope; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home with a celebration of life at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church the following day, Saturday, July 30, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Bert requested that donations be made to either Maple Avenue United Methodist Church in Terre Haute or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her family also asks that those who are able consider becoming a blood/bone marrow donor, for without the kind, anonymous souls who donated to Bert, we wouldn't have had her for as long as we did. Visit BeTheMatch.org for more information on bone marrow donation. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net for the Evans family.
