He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and retired from Conrail Railroad as a purchasing agent. He was a member of Euclid Masonic Lodge 517 Free & Accepted Masons, Transportation Communications International Union, and a member of Maplewood Christian Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Murl Maxwell; second wife, Genevieve Maxwell; and a daughter, Sharon Jean Jones. Robert is survived by his daughters, Linda Akers, Myrna Easton and husband Randy, and Debra McCullough and husband Dewey; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., with visitation Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
