Robert Joseph Johnson, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Meadows Manor North, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 17, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois to Howard and Edith (Cates) Johnson.
Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950 -1953. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1970. He was a Registered Land Surveyor for over 35 years and owned Johnson Land Surveying, Inc. He was a member of the American Legion and was a founding member of Calvary Temple Church.
Working was Robert’s passion. He loved his job surveying land. When he wasn’t working, Robert enjoyed skeet shooting and golf. He loved to travel. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be truly missed.
Robert is survived by his children, Randy Johnson and wife Linda of Ickesburg, PA and Raelane Hoff and husband Dane of Terre Haute; grandchildren, David Johnson, Michael Johnson and wife Lena, Daniel Johnson, Emma Johnson, Aaron Hoff and wife Noel, Lyndsay Wilson and husband Bennett, Jeff Fields and wife Vickie and their children Erica, Colton, Lucas, and Jared; and Jerry Fields and wife Laura; sister-in-laws, Frances Hancher and Virginia Bogle; and several nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris (Corne) Johnson; and a brother, Jackie C. Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 3 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 4, at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
