He was employed and retired from Anaconda, Indiana State University, and Midwest Vacuum Pump. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Internatinal. Phil attended Bible Baptist Church in Terre Haute. He enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas and loved playing bingo and dancing with his wife of 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Emma May of West Terre Haute and Dorothy Houser of East Chicago; and his wife, Imogene Britton.
His survivors include his daughter, Carol Allen and grandson Garrett Allen, both of Ohio; his sister, Margaret Hughes of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in Phillip's honor on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4600 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute. A service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Szwarga officiating. Phillip will be laid to rest next to Imogene at Roselawn Memorial Park.
