Perry Oliver Brown, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Union Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on Jan. 1, 1930, in Terre Haute to Oliver Andrew Brown and Stella Hazel (Trump) Brown.
Perry is survived by his wife, Evelyn Griffith Brown of Terre Haute; children, Monte Brown and wife Terre of Trafalgar, Ind., Robert Brown and wife Julie of Rosedale; and Mary Fuller and husband Jerry of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Tommy Lou Brosche; a niece, Elizabeth Roxanne Eatinger and husband Wayne; a nephew, David Allen Schmidt; and special friends, Tony and Donna Perrelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Connie Louise Brown; and sisters, Lilly Rosemary Schmidt and Patricia Ann Brown.
Perry proudly served in the United States Army. He worked for many years at Ethyl Visqueen and Anaconda/Novelis. Perry was a member of Masonic Temple Social Lodge 86, Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine and the Oriental Band, American Legion Post 104, 40 & 8, and Amvets Post 222. He especially loved to participate in parades with the Zorah Oriental Band. He was well-known as the sword carrier. Perry enjoyed his pool. He loved to have people over to his home and entertain his guests.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Masonic Rites by Social Lodge 86 will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Services will follow with Pastor Rick May officiating and military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 104.
