Paul W. Jones, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 3, 1925, in Terre Haute, to the late Ruth and Clarence Heck and Ray Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Mae Jones.
Paul was a retired service technician for Montgomery Ward. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved gardening, helping others, and enjoyed an occasional challenge.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Sondra S. Emberton and husband John, and Sharon R. West, both of Indianapolis; one brother, Karl Heck; four sisters, Nettie Michaels, Patricia McKinney, Gloria Jean Secrest, and Sheila Jones; four grandchildren, John Ed Emberton, Dwan Landes-Ortiz, Scott Emberton, and Katlyn West; and five great-grandchildren, Anthian Ortiz, Rylan Ortiz, Miles Emberton, Maddox Emberton, and Calix Ritacco; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II (71st Infantry), and was a member of the American Legion Wayne Newton Post 346.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Friday, November 14 at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, with Karl Heck (Paul’s brother) officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by American Legion Post 346.
