

Nancy Julie Livengood of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home at the age of 66. She was born in Terre Haute on May 7, 1946 to Sylvia Moore Alexander and Frank H. Alexander. Nancy graduated from Wiley High School in 1964 and later received her Masters in Education from ISU.
Nancy played many roles as an educator. She served as a preschool teacher and taught at Sarah Scott Jr. High, Honey Creek Jr. High and Terre Haute North Vigo High School. She received a Teacher of the Year Award for her dedication. Nancy was an integral part of the Terre Haute North Drama Department for more than 20 years and was lovingly referred to as “Drama Mama” and “Mrs. L.” She was a member of Vigo County Teachers Association (VCTA), Performing Arts Workshop (PAW), PEO, Union Hospital fitness classes, and Bethany United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir. Nancy was also served as Past Matron and Deputy of Riley Eastern Star, as well as Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Marti Goodwin (Pat) and Misty Livengood, one brother, Jim Alexander (Emily), and 5 grandchildren, Caroline, Max, Ellie and Sylvia Goodwin, and Dillon Horsley. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and parents Sylvia and Frank Alexander.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 25, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Mattox-Wood and again for the hour preceding services on Friday. Services will be on Friday April 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where an Eastern Star service will be conducted in the chapel. The minister officiating will be Steve Moore. Envelopes will be made available for memorial contributions to the Terre Haute North Drama Department.
