He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Phillip Garrett.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Patti Harpold Garrett; his mother, Frances (Bob) Petty; step-mother, Irene Garrett; children, Dustin (Heather) Gill, Nathaniel (Mony Thol) Gill, Scott Gill, Savanah (Steven) Chaney, and Kayla (Zach) Wehrmeyer; his siblings, Julia Meyers, Chad (Jennifer) Yorke, Joshua Garrett, Matthew Garrett and Samantha Garrett; and eight grandchildren, Quintin Gill, Carter Gill, Tevy Thol, Nathaniel Gill, Ella Gill-Lamb, Justyn Chaney, Mavis Chaney and Aiden Wehrmeyer; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Ted Harpold; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins..
Monte was a member of Local 157 Plumbers and Steamfitters, and Terre Haute Lodge #19 F&AM. He was a graduate of IVY Tech Community College.
A lifelong Cheese Head, Monte, enjoyed attending football games and riding his Harley alongside the love of his life, Patti. Together, they enjoyed not only each other's company, but family time was very important to Monte. He always enjoyed cooking, sharing laughter and Love.
Monte's Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 North Clinton Street, Terre Haute. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Attica. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 AM, until time of services at the funeral home.
