Merlin Moore, 89, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2020. He was born in West Terre Haute, Indiana on December 26, 1930 to Kary Lafayette “Carter” Moore and Charlotte Stuck Moore. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Janine Moore (July 28, 1964 to January 25, 1966), his brothers Wilbur, Leland, Elwin and Burlin, and his sister Doris.
Merlin is survived by his wife, Janet Hudson Moore, sons Michael (Peggy) and Kevin, and daughter Rachel Moran (Joe), three grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Merlin served as elder and elder emeritus at Park Hill Presbyterian Church in Denver, and previously as elder at other churches in Michigan. He was retired from Pfizer in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he worked as a microbiologist. He and Janet have been avid supporters of foreign missions, volunteering time at JAARS in South Carolina and hosting missionaries in their home. His profession was, “I love the Lord with all my heart.”
Merlin's favorite volunteer work was with ECHO in Florida, a Christian organization to combat world hunger. There he used his knowledge of mycology in researching growing mushrooms.
Interment for Merlin will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley, Indiana. Any memorial gifts can be given to ECHO at 17391 Durrance Rd, N. Fort Myers FL 33917.
