Mable Alice Butler, age 87 of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on October 8th. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 21, 1924 to Alva R. Walker and Ruby Llewellyn Walker. She married Willie Lee Butler in 1942 and they were married for 63 years until his passing in 2005.
Mable was a real-life “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II and had also worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone company. Her true career was being a loving mother and Pastor’s wife of the New Goshen First Pentecostal Church. She was the glue that held the family together.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice L. Clymer and husband Floyd of New Goshen and Judy Summers of Avon; son, Randy Butler and wife Lori of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Duane Clymer and wife Ruth, Melanie Wheeler and husband John, Sheree Summers, Anthony Clymer, Stephen Butler and wife Jamie, Michelle Grassick and husband Randy, and Amanda Sebastian and husband Brian; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie and her parents, Alva and Ruby.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10th from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Souls’ Harbour Church, 7217 U.S. Highway 41, Shelburn 47879. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 11th at 1:00 P.M. at Souls’ Harbour Church with Pastor Darren Thrasher and Minister Duane Clymer officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
