Jean is survived by her sons, Robert J. Hines and wife Tracy of Terre Haute, Michael L. Hines and wife Vicki of Wichita, KS, Patrick J. Hines and wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, CO, and John C. Hines and wife Amy of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Mathew Zehner and wife Andrea of Robinson, IL, Jennifer Ferguson and husband Kenneth of Indianapolis, Curtis Zehner and wife Kelsey of Terre Haute, Shawn Hines and wife Cassandra of Bloomington, Lora Cox and husband Nathan of Valley Center, KS, Catherine Gach and husband Kyle of Boulder, CO, Patrick Hines of Wichita, KS, Marcus Miller of Boise, ID, Samantha Hines of Delton, MI, Rachel Miller of San Antonio, TX, Matt Miller of San Antonio, TX, and Nicholas Hines of Terre Haute; great-grandchildren, Connor and Kaylynn Zehner, Jonathan and Miles Hines, Lillian and Claire Cox, Lucy Gach, Collin, Brynlee and Cambrie Zehner, and Theodore Ferguson with Phillip Ferguson soon to arrive; a sister, Jane Granger of Clinton, with nephew Billy Jack, nieces Becky, Bobbi Jill, and Barbie, and a nephew Steven Ray Critchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother Jack, her younger sister, Joyce Critchfield, her husband, George Hines; and her first grandson, Jacob Hines.
Jean graduated from St. Bernice High School, where she wrote for the yearbook, and played saxophone. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington, and worked for Hulman Company. She retired from Lee Company in Terre Haute.
Jean was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She served her community for over 20 years on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Vigo County Area Planning Commission.
Before her illness, Jean loved to stay active by bowling, playing tennis, and hitting the links for a round of golf. In retirement, she and her husband spent several winters in Vero Beach, Florida with Jack & Betty Hines. Most of all, Jean was in her glory when she was spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband in Roselawn Memorial Park.
