Janet Lee Flowers, 51, of Terre Haute, passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 30, 1963, in Hammond, IN to John Richard and Donna Jean (Whitesell) Tevlin.
On October 30, 1997, she began her life with her true love and soulmate, James “Perry” Shelton. Fondly remembered as a caring and loving woman. Janet and Perry loved to watch racing, especially sprint cars on Saturday Night at the Putnamville Speedway. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, canoeing, and riding horses. She worked for Logo Connxtion as an embroiderer for twenty-two years. She loved her job and she also liked to use her Cricut machine at home. Janet and Perry enjoyed their trips to Florida. She liked to watch football and was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. Most of all, Janet cherished the time she spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She will be deeply missed.
Janet is survived by her husband, Perry Shelton of Terre Haute; parents, John and Donna Tevlin of Terre Haute; mother and father-in-law Judy and James Shelton of Terre Haute; children, Gary Allen Flowers Jr. and wife Rebecca of Indianapolis, Melissa Munoz and husband Juan, Matthew Flowers and fiancée Lyndsey, and Kali Shelton, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Cheltzie Lara, Gary Flowers, Miranda Flowers, Katrina Flowers, Gabriela Voris-Munoz, Juanito Munoz, Andrew Baber, Jonathan Baber, Robbie Baber, Kadrien Flowers, MaKenzi Flowers, and Greyson Flowers; sister, Pamela Weger and significant other, Rich Bridgewater of Terre Haute; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many, special friends.
She was preceded in death by her Grandma and Grandpa Tevlin, Grandma Curtis and Grandpa Whitesell, Grandma and Grandpa Moy, and Grandma and Grandpa Shelton, a brother, John Tevlin, Jr., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
Janet’s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Huh, Dr. Lynch, Dr. O., IU Hospital of Health, Hospice of the Wabash Valley, all of the nurses at IU and, Beth of Visiting Nurses Association for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation will be held from 11 until 2 on Monday, July 27 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.
