Jack graduated from Glenn High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Jack married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Frew on August 4, 1957. He was a self-employed farmer who spent time running a dairy farm, grain operation, and transporting fertilizer. He was an active member of Union Christian Church. Jack loved spending time outside in his garden and working on the farm. With Jack’s loyal and outgoing personality, he was often found to be cruising the countryside and visiting with family and friends during his free time.
Jack is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Phyllis (Frew) Jeffers; his children, Debbie Sylvain and husband Jeff of Plainfield, Pam Zwissler and husband Ben of Columbus, Alan Jeffers and wife Nicole of Brazil, Connie Gualano of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Iain McNair, Aaron, Nathan, and Daniel Zwissler, Asieavae and Avalee Jeffers; step-grandson, James Zwissler and wife Lisa; three step-great-grandchildren, Connor, Allie, and Jake. Jack is also survived by his siblings, Marjorie Tanner of Terre Haute, Thelma Jean Zurcher of Terre Haute, Paul Jeffers and wife Betty of Waynetown, Kenny Jeffers and wife Georgia of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Theodore and Robert Jeffers; and a grandson, Shane Joseph McNair.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Thursday, March 23 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Grayless and Dave Rector officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories.
