Obituary of Gregory Allen Taylor
Gregory Allen Taylor, age 70, of Seymour IN, passed away at Hanover Nursing Home at 1:15 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Greg was born in Danville IL, to the late Verle Curtis Taylor and Patricia Ann Taylor (Boggess). He was a graduate of Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School. He enjoyed camping and swimming on his family vacations and eating meals with family. He had many hobbies: reading westerns and military strategies, playing guitar, singing with his guitar. He grew up in Olivet, Illinois and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana with his family after his workplace closed in Danville, Illinois to continue working at Kroger. While living in Olivet, he attended the Nazarene Church and participated by leading the Youth program and Junior church programs, plus singing in the choir too. After moving to Terre Haute, he attended the Nazarene Church and was involved in the choir. Divorced 33 years later and living on his own after retiring from Kroger, he developed Huntington’s disease. The disease affected him so much he was admitted to the Hanover Nursing home in Hanover, Indiana. He finished out his life at the nursing-home the last 4 years. He had a relationship with Jesus Christ. We will see my dad again one day. Survivors: Lana Taylor(ex-wife); Sister; Verlene Knight; daughters Marcie Cates(late Edward) of Seymour IN and Leona Purcell(Jeremy) Bloomfield IN; grandchildren, Lana Purcell, late Rachel Purcell, Samantha Purcell and Kristiana Enoch(Kenny); great grandchildren, Valerie Purcell, Cali Purcell and Dante Enoch; plus several nieces and nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Rachel Purcell. There will be no funeral services. A private graveside service at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 North Clinton Street, Terre Haute IN 47805.
