Francis “Rowdy” E. Rowe, 96, lifelong Terre Haute resident, passed away Sept. 7, 2015, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 14, 1918, to Charles F. Rowe and Myra (Johnson) Rowe. Rowdy retired from Pfizer and Company after having worked there for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer, belonging to the Rea Park Senior League until last year. In the past, he was a member of the Scamper Camper Club. He served in the CCC in 1939, at Price, Utah, and was an Army veteran of WW II, having served in North Africa, Sicily and Italy with the 91st Reconnaissance, 1st Calvary Division.
He married Mildred (Henry) Rowe June 20, 1942, and she preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Crane, and Clyde Wright of Shelburn; his son, Thomas A. Rowe, and wife, Linda, of Brazil; and a brother, Claude Rowe, and wife, Geneva, of Terre Haute; and eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Christopher Rowe; a nephew, Charles Rowe; a sister, Mary Rose Rowe; and brothers, Ernest Rowe and Harvey Rowe.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites. Online condolences may be made at:
