Frances Lee Wood left to meet the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2015. Frances was born on January 23, 1940, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Charles E. Atterbury and Mary E. Laughlin. She retired from Hercules in 1986 and then went on to start and run her own business, Fran’s General Store, with her husband Harold (Woody) Wood from 1986-2008. She was also a member of American Legion Post 104 for many years.
Frances enjoyed watching her cooking shows on TV, growing delicious fresh herbs to use in her fabulous recipes, going on the hunt for yard sales, and she loved to spend her spare time outside in the sunlight.
Frances leaves behind one son, Russell Church Jr (Sharon) of Terre Haute and one daughter, Kathy Church of West Terre Haute. Also among her survivors are a half-sister Deb Worthington; 3 grandchildren; Russell Church III (Charlotte), Bill Church (Chasity) and Michell Lynch; 5 great-grandchildren; McKenzie, Abbot, Kamie, Jade and Cayla; her best-friend Marcia Condry; one very special friend, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody; her parents; and several siblings; Eddie Jefferson, Mary Hercules, Albert Jefferson, Bessi Smith, Jerry Bryan, Wanda Haughes, and Ernest Atterbury.
Services will be held at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home at 4660 Lafayette Ave in Terre Haute. Visitation will be Thursday, April 16th, 2015, starting at 11am until the time of the funeral services at 2pm and burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.mattoxwood.com
