

Elizabeth Ellen (Sanderson) Baker of Farmersburg, IN, and formerly of Riley, IN, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 as a result of complications from her long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on June 2, 1922 in Clay County, IN the third daughter of William and Magdalena Sanderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters Eva May Sanderson, Betty May Sheese and Bernice Gilbrech. She retired in 1984 from the Midland Glass factory in Terre Haute, IN and was a happy grandmother staying at home and enjoyed doing crochet work and made many family members their own quilts. She will be remembered by her family as homemaker that loved to work puzzles, crochet and having her family get together for holidays and special events.
Elizabeth married Lavone L. Baker on March 11, 1946 and they both worked for many years at Home Packing in Terre Haute, IN. She then worked at Bemis Bag in Terre Haute, IN before her retirement as a glass inspector from Midland Glass. Her husband preceded her in death on October 30, 2013. Together they had three children, Jerry L. Baker and his wife Sharon of Farmersburg, IN, Kenneth A. Baker of Riley, IN, and Marlinda Cesinger-Stainbrook and her husband Jerry of Shelbyville, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kenneth Ryan Baker of Riley, IN, Theresa Ellen and her husband John A. Penick of Brunswick, GA, Elizabeth Ruth and her husband Scott Moore of Terre Haute, IN, Jamie Lavone and her husband Lance Crone of York, PA, and Stuart Mason Baker and his wife Nicole Ann of Farmersburg, IN. Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren, Joshua A. Penick and his wife Shelby of Brunswick, GA, Tierra K. Penick of Terre Haute, IN and Nicholas Jon Baker of Farmersburg, IN.
Her family would like to express special thanks to the people of Preferred Home Health of Terre Haute, IN for their care and support. Also special thanks are expressed to Gentiva Hospice Care of Terre Haute, IN for their many staff that provided care and support to the entire family. Special thanks are also due to the staff of Springhill Village of Terre Haute, IN for their care of her during her stays at their facility for rehabilitation or respite stays.
The family will gather at the graveside for private services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Terre Haute, IN.
