IN THE CARE OF
Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Carol Ann Singleton, 88, of Rockville, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022. She was born on February 7, 1934, in Bloomingdale to George and Bernice (Clore) Wright.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Laurie McCleskey and husband, Ken, of Glencoe, MN; son, Michael Cox and companion, Amber Witherow of Terre Haute; sister, Sharon Beach of Rockville; grandsons, Andy Cox and wife Alisha, Alex McCleskey and wife Erica, James McCleskey and wife Brittany, and David Cox; great-grandsons, Mason, Lucas, and Jackson; her faithful, feline companion, Lucy; friend and helper, Maria Fox and her son Matthew; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A hard worker all of her life, she instilled this trait in her children and grandchildren. She loved antiques and saw potential in even the shabbiest of items, pouring time and attention into them to restore them to their former glory. She operated an antique booth during her retirement years on the square in Rockville. She was a former real estate agent, had worked for Southwest Airlines, and was also a bookkeeper for several businesses throughout her life. Carol lived for many years in Tucson, Arizona and several years in Danville, Illinois after leaving Bloomingdale as a young woman. She was independent, feisty, and adventurous.
Carol took great pleasure in the simple things in life. From watching the birds build their nests every spring to watching her neighbors across the street, Carol enjoyed it all. She was an avid reader and when she wasn’t reading, she was listening to audiobooks. She had a quick wit, was an excellent cook, and always saw the good in others. Carol was a gem, an irreplaceable human, and a woman who certainly deserves eternal blessings.
Per Carol’s wishes, she was cremated and will be scattered in the places that she requested. A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Foundation for the Blind at www.afb.org
