Betty Ruth Jeffers, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at Davis Gardens. She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Terre Haute, to Charles C. Carrithers and Edna E. (Mainke) Carrithers. She married Berlyn Jeffers. Betty worked for many years as the receptionist in Dr. B.E. Scherb’s office. She was a member of Northside Community Church. Betty sang for more than 50 years in the church choir and played in the bell choir. She also used her vocal talents in the Vigo County Extension Homemaker’s Choir. She volunteered at Union Hospital for several years.
Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Mathias and husband; Larry; grandchildren, Tricia and Tom Kixmiller, and their, son Collin Conine, Rob and Becky Wilkie, and their children, Robyn, Clint, and Mitch, and Cristy and Steve Junker, and their children Matthew, Nathan, Julia, and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles C. Carrithers and Edna E. Carrithers-Liffick; stepfather, Everett Liffick; husband, Berlyn Jeffers; son, James E. Jeffers; sisters, Mary Pigg, Nadine Buck, Catherine Adams and Fern Starr; and a brother, Cyrus C. Carrithers.
