Services for Willa Dean Irish age 81, of Temple will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Charles Melton officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Irish passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at a local care center.
Willa Dean was born in Troy, Texas on October 24, 1940 to William and Adela Grenwelge Spohn of Troy. She graduated from Troy High School in 1959, then attended Temple College. She later graduated from the King’s Daughter’s School for Vocational Nurses. Willa Dean married James Irish on November 28, 1964. She was employed as a surgical nurse at Baylor-Scott and White for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dwayne Spohn.
Survivors include her husband, James Irish, of Temple; a daughter, Phyllis Irish of Temple; two brothers, Donald Spohn of Round Rock and Larry Spohn of Temple; and a sister, Barbara Spohn of Troy.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Temple Animal Shelter, the Association for a Pet Adoption Center (APAC Foster Program), or any preferred organization.
