Stephen Henry Niemeier, 67, a beloved member of the Temple community, left our world on April 9, 2025 and now rests in the hands of God. After a life richly lived in love, kindness, and service to his family, friends, community and world, there is no doubt that Steve is experiencing the comfort of salvation his faith longed for.
Steve was born in Gatesville, Texas on October 29,1957 to Mary Ann and Charles Niemeier. After graduating from Gatesville High School, he attended Baylor University where he earned his degree in accounting and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. While at Baylor, Steve met Lisa, and they were married in 1979. After a period of time in Houston, Texas, Steve and his family moved to Temple, Texas. Steve was a partner at Brockway, Gersbach, Franklin & Niemeier PC. Steve cared deeply for his work family and his clients.
Steve was a devoted and loving husband, an amazing father to his three children: Andrew, Emily, and Sarah. He was passionate about his role as a Babu (grandfather). He loved and adored his grandchildren: Caleb, Macy, Emma, Lils, Zoey, Evelyn, Henry, and Oliver. Steve cherished his daughter-in-love Helen Niemeier and son-in-love Adam Haberer as his own. He loved his three nieces and his great niece and nephews. Steve greatly enjoyed time spent with his sister, Natalie Cilek, and his brother and sister-in-love, Charles and Theresa Niemeier.
Throughout his years in Temple, Steve had the honor to serve on many boards. Steve wanted Temple to be a healthy and vibrant community, and he believed that the best way to ensure that was to invest in education. From 2006-2024, Steve served on the Board of Trustees for Temple College, and before that, he served on the Temple College Foundation board. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in his honor be made to Temple College Foundation where an endowment scholarship has been created to support students on their journey in higher education. Checks may be made payable to Temple College Foundation and mailed to: 2600 S. First St, Temple, Texas 76504. Please include a note letting the Foundation know you wish to donate in honor of Steve.
Steve's love of people extended worldwide. Since 2000, Steve has invested in the lives of marginalized people in Uganda. He believed that the best way to share the love of Christ was to care for people. Through providing business counseling, creating micro economic opportunities, helping establish a vocational school, "adopting" children from child headed homes, and creating a safe community for them to be educated and nurtured, Steve committed himself to investing in the physical needs of people, as well as the spiritual. Steve first visited Ukraine in 2001 where lifelong friendships were created. The war in Ukraine grieved Steve and motivated him to find ways to ease their suffering. Through contributing to Church Leadership Development International, he helped build water filtration systems and stock food warehouses. He had planned to return to Uganda and Ukraine. Steve is grateful to Temple Bible Church for planting the seed of being mission minded in his heart.
A Community Gathering to Celebrate the life of Stephen H. Niemeier will be Friday, April 18, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Temple Bible Church, 3205 Oakview Drive, Temple, Texas.
