Robert (Bob) Pritchard

Robert Dell Pritchard, age 61, of Temple died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in a local nursing center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 10 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Mattson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Pritchard was born in 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gene and Dorothy Pritchard. He graduated from Southport High School in 1968 and upon graduation joined the U.S. Navy. He served four years active duty during the Vietnam War on the USS Detroit receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Award. Bob moved to Temple in the 1970's where be worked for Mobil Chemical/Pactiv as a maintenance mechanic and spent the last 32 years of his life. He married Valerie Chlapek on January 24, 1998. He was a true cat lover and doted on his feline companions, Wally and Neilou. Bob loved to work on his model train sets and spent many hours rebuilding and repairing computers often giving of his time and talents to family and friends. Bob also collected and built model planes and enjoyed flying RC planes and helicopters. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Pritchard and his father. Survivors include his wife, Valerie Pritchard, his sister, Ann Van Wie; his mother, Dorothy Pritchard of Indiana; one step daughter, Deborah Schiller; two step sons, Myron and Alan Haisler; and eight step-grandchildren.
