Rebecca Lynn Gulick passed away on December 2, 2023, after a short and surprise battle with cancer. But, hallelujah anyway: she did not suffer long and is now forever with Jesus and all who have gone on before her.
Rebecca, 47, was born May 14, 1976, in Houston as the second of five children to Pam and Andy Gulick, and the one least likely to be taken out of the Family Will by patriarch Andy. She was, after all, everyone’s favorite. She was the beloved aunt, the steady (and fun – she was the fun one) sister, the devoted daughter, the constant friend, and the enthusiastic and engaged teacher. Rebecca loved all kinds of games, whether Mario Kart, Monopoly (but trust me, don’t let her be the banker…), or ERS. She loved to garden and had a lovely green thumb for both vegetables and flowers. She always had a solid book recommendation. And she loved her dogs. But most of all, Rebecca loved her family. She pursued anything that kept her close to and engaged with “her people,” whether those people were by blood or by extension. Rebecca was constant and loyal and the one who held us all together. And we will miss her terribly. But we also praise Jesus that we Know we will see her again.
Rebecca leaves behind her parents Andy and Pam Gulick; her sister Jessica Alvarado, brother-in-law George, and nieces Darianne, Ayla, and Marsaili; her brother Ronald Gulick; sister-in-law Erin, niece Kennedy, and nephews Anderson and Reid; her sister Sarah Marrs, brother-in-law Stuart, nephews Max and Townes, and niece Ezra Faye; her brother David Gulick, sister-in-law Annie, nephew Silas, and nieces Esther, Rosemary, and Eleanora; her best friend, constant ally, and accomplice Dee Ann McCormick; her “adopted family” Dianna Chapman-Pellegrino and Rocky Pellegrino, their sons Noah and Andrew, and their daughters Katherine and Courtney; two dogs Blaise and Penelope; a beautiful vegetable garden and colorful flowerbeds; and probably a life-sized cut-out of Jon Bon Jovi. And a whole host of kiddos she was blessed (and maybe sometimes cursed) to teach during her 25-year tenure with Copperas Cove ISD.
Services for Rebecca will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Bro. Kendall Washington and Stuart Marrs officiating.
Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
