Mass of Christian Burial for Nicholas Schneider, 42, of Temple will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Surrounded by family and many friends, Nick died Saturday morning after succumbing to bile duct cancer. Nick’s bravery and will to fight has inspired us all.
Nick was born February 23, 1980 in Temple to Michael Schneider and the late Kathy Kopriva Schneider. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1998. Nick was a member of the Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. Nick worked for Wilson Art in multiple capacities over a 23-year career.
Those who knew Nick also knew he was a little picky (world’s largest understatement), and finally after 36 years of searching, Nick found and married his soulmate, Brandi Bjerke on October 8, 2016. Nick and Brandi were never blessed with children in the traditional sense, but he and Brandi helped raise Billy, or as Nick would say, “His Little Man!” Nick loved and treated Billy as his own, and his love for family didn’t stop there. Any given afternoon or evening, weekday or weekend, there’s a good chance Nick was at one of his niece’s or nephew’s sporting, livestock, dance, concert, play, graduation, or whatever activity you can imagine, Nick and Brandi were there. If you didn’t stop him, Nick could sit and talk about his nieces and nephews all day long. Nick’s positive influence for children didn’t stop there. He was an active umpire and member of the Belton-Temple TASO Chapter. Umpiring baseball feed Nick’s love for the game and desire to mentor the young men who played on his field. Nick also enjoyed spending time on the water fishing with his brother, Keith, and Addie and Peyton. Another favorite hobby of Nick’s was Texas Hold’em. Many o’ nights were spent with friends, John Delao and Amber Sandefur, seated around the felted poker tables of Central Texas.
