Michael R Dayton

Mr. Dayton died Sunday, September 17, 2023 at a local hospital.

He was born September 18, 1957, in West Virginia.

He graduated from Lampasas High School.  While in high school, he was a certified electrician and worked for Brown and Root. After a few years, he became a salesman and met Johnny Sodek, Sr. and was hired at Cen-Tex Tile and Floor. He began as a floor installer and worked there in all areas and eventually became the owner of the business. 

He married Trisha Baird on October 21, 2011 in Temple.

Mike loved people and put others above himself, helping them in any and every way. He was a gracious host to family and friends in their home; making sure to talk and laugh with each person and make them feel welcomed.   He was an outdoorsman and sportsman who loved fishing, golfing, corn-hole, and grilling.  His famous crawfish boils were epic, and he even mastered his father - in - law, Charles Baird’s, famous barbecue sauce. He and his wife Trisha found great happiness traveling and camping all over Texas.  They were known for “spare of the minute” road trips.

He is survived by his wife, Trisha Dayton of Temple; daughter, Alicia Blair (Catlin) of Temple; two sons, Duane McLendon of Temple and Ray McLendon of Crystal Beach; two brothers, Ronald Dayton and Donald Dayton both of Gatesville; and his grandchild, Harloe Blair of Temple, many other loving family members and a host of friends.
