

Max Herbert Schubert, MD, age 44 of Temple died Sunday, March 23, 2014 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 27, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Minister Dudley Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Greathouse Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Dr. Schubert was born October 15, 1969 in Temple to Dr. Herbert A. and Janell Thorp Schubert. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1988 as valedictorian and attended Angelo State where he graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1991. He graduated from Texas Tech with master's degree in molecular biology and received his medical degree in 1998. He served a four year residency at Scott & White after which he did a two year fellowship at Waco VA in research. He was presently employed at the Waco VA as the Chief of Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine. He was a member of Rogers Church of Christ where he had led singing. He was an accomplished artist and musician. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Herbert A. Schubert. Survivors include his spouse, S. Kirk Lammert of Temple, his mother, Janell Williams of Little River, one brother, William Larry Wofford and wife, Catherine Lindsey of Cedar Park, three sisters, Cindy Avery of Little River, Kay Bumpass of Waco and Ranae Six and husband, Vern. Also surviving are four nephews, Robert Bumpass of Lompoc, CA, Richard Bumpass and Russell Bumpass both of Waco and Matthew Wofford of Cedar Park and one niece, Tonya Avery of Little River. Memorial donations may be made to Scott & White Hospice.
