Mary Jo Gibson

Mary Jo Hansford Gibson passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 12, 2024 with her daughters Kandee Bruening, Laura Rowton and Terri Ibarra caring for her. She was also certainly in the hearts and prayers of her devoted family and caring friends.

Embrace Hospice has made this very difficult time very comforting and peaceful. The nurses and other caregivers have been amazing and a blessing.

Mary Jo was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 12, 1930 to the late Ree Ethel (Neff) Hansford and William Lewis (Bill) Hansford. She grew up there as well as in Madill, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University where she met Jay Wayne Gibson. They married on July 6, 1951 and started a very busy life having three daughters. They moved to Temple in 1957 and are still part of the community. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Jay, and by her parents and a sister.

Mary Jo had a happy and busy life with her daughters and their families including two grandsons, one granddaughter and seven great grandchildren. All of the relatives in Oklahoma and Texas enjoyed great “cousin” times celebrating the love of family.

A private burial service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery with a memorial service to be held a later date with family and friends.
