Graveside services for Mack Thornton Whatley, 80, of Temple will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Bellwood Memorial Park with Rev. Rodney Kruse officiating. Mr. Whatley died Tuesday at his residence. Mr. Whatley was born July 3, 1931, to Joseph Charles Whatley and Lola Hill Whatley in the Leedale community. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War. He married Tillie Jarolik January 25, 1958 in Rogers. He was self employed in the tile and floor covering business at Rogers Tile in Killeen and also was a Real Estate Investor in Temple. Mack and Tillie enjoyed traveling and having fun. They liked fishing and relaxing on the Colorado River, enjoyed working together in the yard, going on walks, and spending time with family- especially their grandchildren. Mr. Whatley was preceded in death by one sister Louise Underwood and three brothers J.C. Whatley, Muggs Whatley and Bob Whatley Survivors include his wife of fifty four years Tillie Whatley of Temple; two daughters Margaret Bonner and her husband Tommy and Sandra Wilde and her husband Ralph all of Temple, four grandchildren Travis Bonner of Austin, Lindsey Bonner of Chicago, Brittani Wilde of Dallas and Amanda Wilde of Temple and one great-granddaughter Evi Bonner of Austin. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
