Lydia A Martinez-Vargas

Lydia Martinez-Vargas, age 95, of Temple, Texas passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023at her home in Temple. She was born on January 7, 1928 in Hutto, Texas the daughter of Jacobo and Inocencia (Gutierrez) Ancira.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with a rosary at 7:00pm at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple followed by a burial at Bellwood Memorial Park.

Lydia worked for many years with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and Baylor Scott and White.

She is survived by her husband Donato Vargas of Temple, daughters, Rita Jo Guerra of Temple and Becky Ramirez and husband JR of Temple, 11 grandchildren, Annette Staley, Becky Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Samuel Martinez, Dawn Martinez, Glenn Wiggins, Brian Wiggins, Mandy Wiggins, Christopher Cobos, Adrian Ramirez, and Alec Ramirez, and many great-grandchildren. Lydia is also survived by her brothers Isabel Ancira and Jesse Ancira.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Jose Martinez, sons Johnny Martinez and David Lee Martinez, and daughters Lydia Martinez and Janie Martinez.
