A graveside service to honor Lois will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River-Academy. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance, to share stories, and to find comfort as we lay her to rest.
Born on September 5, 1943, in Little River-Academy, Lois was the cherished daughter of Melvin Ellis and Alva Lee (Honeycutt) Garner. She spent her life deeply rooted in the Central Texas community, living in both Little River-Academy and Temple, where she cultivated a life marked by quiet strength, enduring faith, and boundless devotion to her family.
On May 7, 1966, Lois married the love of her life, James T. Cain, in a heartfelt ceremony in Little River. Their union, built on mutual respect and unwavering love, endured until James's passing on October 4, 2014. Together, they raised a family steeped in the values of kindness, integrity, and service to others.
A dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of Little River, Lois embodied grace and humility in her faith, offering her time and spirit to her church family for many years. Professionally, she served with distinction at the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, where her diligence and dedication earned her the respect of her colleagues and the community alike.
Upon retirement, Lois found immense joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life—chief among them, watching her grandchildren play sports. Whether cheering from the stands or offering quiet encouragement from the sidelines, she remained a steadfast supporter of their endeavors and dreams.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James; and her brother, Mike Garner.
She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Cain; her son Jason Cain and his wife, Destany; and her six treasured grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle, Jackson, James, Ian, and Mia. Her legacy of love, resilience, and faith will live on in each of them.
Lois will be remembered as a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a loyal friend, and a woman whose gentle spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a life well lived and a family deeply grateful for her eternal presence in their hearts.
