Josephine Mae Jez Chupik Urubek was born on June 5, 1929 in Oenaville, Texas to John and Annie Luska Jez and grew up on the family farm with her older brother Edwin Jez, who preceded her in death on October 27, 1994. Josephine was a member of the Seaton Brethren Church and in that church married one of the other members there, Edwin L. Chupik on December 7, 1947. She was married to Edwin until his death of a sudden heart attack on November 4, 1978.
Josephine worked for the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board for many decades and was Secretary to the Board. A professing Christian, Josephine was an active member of The Evangelical Brethren Church of Temple with Edwin and later the Temple Brethren Church (now Cross Church on Birdcreek) with Frank. In these churches she was a member of the church choir, pianist, and an active member of the Christian Sisters. She enjoyed cooking, music, flowers, little children and babies.
On April 6, 1998, Josephine married a widower, Frank J. Urubek, with whom she lived until his death on July 16, 2022. Her last years were spent at the Wildflower Place where she received special loving care from Frank until his death and from the assisted living staff of Wildflower Place.
The Lord called her to glory from the sorrows and troubles of this earth for her eternal home in heaven with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 19, 2024.
She is survived by numerous Chupik family nieces and nephews and their families and by two stepsons, Michael Urubek and Kevin Urubek and their families, as well as many other relatives and friends, who will always remember the smile on her face.
A visitation for Josephine will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
