Jean Velvia Turner, 76, of Temple, passed away April 19, 2022 at her home. Jean fought a brave battle with kidney disease. Ms. Turner was born July 6, 1945 in Newark, New Jersey. Her parents were William and Viola Turner, and she had nine siblings.
She attended Central High School in in Newark, New Jersey. She was a payroll specialist for 30 years at Bell Atlantic Phone Company, and that company is now known as Verizon after a corporate merger.
Jean loved shopping, watching TV, spending time with family, traveling and cooking. She loved to watch golf, tennis and gymnastics. Her favorite vacation spots were Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Trinidad. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Teamsters Union.
Survivors include two daughters, Nichelle (Raul) Rivera and Zariah Turner. She is survived by grandchildren, Devon, Sharice, Sahmir and Sierra. Ms. Turner is also survived by her great grandchildren, Kameron, Illana, Jaelynn, Octavious, Janae, Assiya and Ke’Shawn. She is also survived by one sister, Wilma Smith of Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 1 at 2 pm, in the chapel of Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Temple, Texas.
