Funeral services for James Eugene Roper, 80, of Belton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 18, 2007 at Scanio Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Burial will be in Reeds Lake Cemetery. Mr. Roper died Monday at his residence. Mr. Roper was born in Clay County to Hiram Roper and Inez Collie Roper. He moved to the Troy, Temple and Belton area in 1940. He graduated from Troy High School and married Mary Scott Feb. 21, 1953. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton. He was preceded in death by one brother Bobby Ray Roper. Survivors include his wife Mary Roper of Belton; one son James D. Roper of Heidenheimer; one sister Wanda Krause of Temple and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Scanio Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
