James R. “Jim” Fleming, age 81 of Temple, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will be held at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5:00-8:00pm Monday, April 30, 2018 at the funeral home. James Robert Fleming was born on April 24, 1937 in Union, South Carolina to the late James Irving Fleming and Edna Mae Wix Fleming. He attended schools in Union, South Carolina. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class in 1975. He married Emeraldine Cobb of Rogers on October 26, 1962 in Temple. He attended McLennan Community College, Temple Junior College and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Texas. Jim then worked at the Bellmead Post Office as a letter carrier and retired from there as Postmaster. Jim loved traveling and watching western movies. He also loved Temple Wildcat Football and Baseball, UT Football and the Dallas Cowboys. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an infant daughter, Vanessa Rochea Fleming; a brother, Carl Fleming and a granddaughter, Twila Huffman. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Emeraldine “Dina” Cobb Fleming of Temple; two daughters, Darla Huffman and husband Bill of Temple and Shawn Niersmann and husband Dennis of Heidenheimer; a son, Mickey Lee Fleming and wife Wanda of Union, South Carolina; two sisters, Jessica Fleming of Daphne, Alabama and Brenda Fleming of Union, South Carolina; two brothers, Arthur Fleming and wife Mary Ann of Roebuck, South Carolina and Cedric Fleming and wife Linda of Union, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bret Friemel and wife Crystal of Salado, Christopher Fleming and wife Kristin of Union, South Carolina, Tiffany Hoff of Temple, Michael Fleming of Union, South Carolina, Anthony Niersmann, Jr. of Heidenheimer, Damian White and wife Ashlyn of Gatesville, Sarah Huffman of Temple and Tony Huffman and wife Kayla of Foyil, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Adam, Bryson and Conner Fleming of Union, South Carolina, Paisley and Kyndal Friemel of Salado, Texas, Brayden and Jameson Hoff of Temple and Saoirse and Isolde White of Gatesville and Mackenzie Majors of Temple.
