

Ingrid Louise (Erickson) Whipple, 71, of Belton, TX died peacefully on March 27, 2019 after a two-year battle with cancer. Ingrid was born on November 16, 1947 in Sharon, North Dakota to Shirley and Lester Erickson. She was raised on the family farm, attended a one-room country grade school through 4th grade and then attended Cooperstown Central and High School graduating in 1965. She was active in 4-H, church activities, music, Bible Camp, milked the cows and drove the grain truck. She graduated from North Dakota State University in 1969 with a degree in dietetics. After a one-year internship at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX she returned to North Dakota to work as a dietician at Dakota Hospital in Fargo. She then attended graduate school at the University of Michigan where she received a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. It was there she met and married Kenneth Whipple. In her 35-year administrative career she held positions at Henry Ford Hospital, Harper-Grace Hospitals, Oakwood Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan, all located in Detroit, MI. Following Ken’s career to California, Ingrid became CEO of HealthSouth facilities in Bakersfield, CA and Sierra Vista Hospital in Sacramento, CA. She was honored as being the “C.E.O. OF THE YEAR” by Community Psychiatric Centers of America in 1994. She retired as C.E.O. of Cedar Crest Hospital & Residential Treatment Center, Belton, TX six years ago. Ingrid was an active member of Grace Presbyterian church and its participation in Family Promise and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed reading, golf and travel most recently visiting Portugal, Spain, Greece and Turkey after being diagnosed with cancer.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Shirley Erickson and survived by her husband Ken, sisters Sylvia (Robert) Gonzales and Pauline (Darrell) Roll, 2 nephews, 2 nieces and one uncle, Kermit Ueland.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 13th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Family Promise of East Bell County
