George R. Dooley

Dooley was born outside of Oklahoma City, OK on April 24, 1922. He married Lucille Riggins on February 12, 1942 in Seymour, TX. She died March 23, 2010. They were married for 68 years.

George was drafted into the Army in World War II on October 30, 1942. During this time he earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. The first Purple Heart was awarded when he was wounded in the invasion of Leyte November 6, 1944. After recovery he joined the 96th Division on Okinawa Island. There he was wounded again. He was medically discharged in September 14, 1945. Sometime later, they moved to Lubbock, Texas where he had a successful painting business for many years. During this time they had four children, Don, Bob, Diana and Rod.

Don, Bob and Diana preceded George in death.

George Dooley was not a highly educated man, but was self-taught; he devoted his life to the Lord and ministered for many years. George loved to study the Bible and wrote many papers on the subject. His devotion to his wife and the Lord were unrivaled. George was a member of Master Builders for many years.

He is survived by his youngest son, Rod Dooley and wife Kellye of San Antonio, Texas. Five grandchildren, Deborah and Cliff Perry of Bryan, Texas, Wendy Cole-Ramirez of North Zulch, Texas, David Tuttle of Belton, Texas, Jennifer Dooley and Zachary Dooley both of San Antonio, Texas. Four great grandchildren, Brittany Skiles, Zachary Jensen, Kase Gonzales and Jacob Ramos. And one great great grandchild, Blaire Jensen.
