With sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the family of Frank Joseph DeSalvo announces that he entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 11, 2023 at Grand Brook Memory Care of Grapevine.
Frank was born on October 11, 1929 in Harvey, Louisiana to Joseph Peter DeSalvo and Concetta "Mamie" Taulli DeSalvo. He served in the U.S. Army helping rebuild Europe during the immediate post-World War II era. He married Esther Charrier on September 12, 1953; they were married for 63 years and together raised three children, who brought them immense pride and joy. Esther preceded him in death on March 9, 2017. He lived in Harvey and Marrero, Louisiana for eighty-three years, where he worked as a Safety Inspector for Avondale Shipyards. He moved to Temple, Texas ten years ago and was an active member of Temple Bible Church. He married Pamela Berry Bland on May 25, 2019.
Frank was a personable, caring, and unimaginably hardworking man who devoted himself to family. He was a lover of laughter, story-telling, Cajun and Italian food, cologne, a good bargain, big band music, dancing, and the LSU tigers. More than anything, he cared for people. Tenderhearted, he was always ready to graciously support missionaries, widows, orphans, or those in need. Frank loved the Lord deeply. He served as a deacon and sang in the choir at his church in Louisiana. During his years at Temple Bible Church, he loved attending Bible study and small groups, worshipping, and listening to his beloved son, Gary DeSalvo’s sermons. He ended each day praying for family and others by name. Frank has left an imprint on the hearts of many. We have no doubt that he was welcomed into heaven hearing, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Esther Charrier DeSalvo; his son Gary DeSalvo; and his son-in-law Gary Sibley.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife Pam Bland DeSalvo of Bedford; two loving daughters Paula Hollier and her husband Robbie of Willow Park, and Joy Boquet and her husband Duane of Harvey, Louisiana; his daughter-in-law Bev DeSalvo of College Station; Pam's daughter, Juli Bland, and son, Tippy Bland; his sister Virgie Bender of Harvey, Louisiana; and eight adoring grandchildren: Sarah Riggs and her husband Bill of College Station, Daniel DeSalvo and his wife Michelle of Houston, Ashley Tucker and her husband Josh of Willow Park, Emily Dunnebacke and her husband Joseph of Willow Park, David Hollier and his wife Lauren of Weatherford, Saraya Sibley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jamie Merete and her husband Guillermo of Gretna, Louisiana and Sarah Sibley of Fort Worth; and twelve precious great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Gary DeSalvo Endowment for Training Ministry Leaders at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; a scholarship program set up in honor of Frank's son, Gary.
