entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 14, 2024, after a lengthy
illness. He was born in El Paso, TX. He worked as an industrial
sewing machine mechanic for Brother for over 24 years. In 1999,
he started his own embroidery business in Memphis, TN. In 2020,
closed the business and moved back to Texas. Austin Lighthouse
– Travis Association for the Blind employed him until his retirement
in 2023.
Gene loved the state of Texas, the Longhorns, and the Florida
Gators. He loved classic cars, especially Mustangs. He loved the beauty
of the desert and was an avid fisherman. He loved all animals, and they
loved him. He would visit a customer and their pets would willingly
approach him. Customers would tell Gene that their pets would never
go up to strangers. Gene had a special gift for animals.
Gene is survived by his wife, Donna, mother, Lorraine, brother, Brian,
sister-in-law, Lisa, son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, Gigi, son, Joshua and
grandson, Axel. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and
uncles. Preceded in death by his father Eugene Sr., his grandfather, Charles,
and grandmother, Gladys.
