Dr. Harold Lee Wood, 79, of Temple died Wednesday morning at Scott and White Hospital. Harold was born October 1, 1926, in Pine Hill, Alabama, the son of James A. and Lola Armstrong Wood. As Harold said, "I was born in Alabama, raised in Mississippi, and educated in Tennessee". Harold graduated from The University of Tennessee Medical School in 1955 and served his internship at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. After his OB/GYN residency in Memphis, Harold became senior staff at Scott and White. Dr. Wood entered private practice in Killeen in 1969 and retired in 1986. Harold served in the US Army and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He is survived by Patricia Wood of Temple, 2 sons: Dr. Michael Wood and wife Cindy of Alta Loma, CA, and H. Lee Wood, II and wife Lynn of Chattanooga, TN, 1 brother Charles Wood and wife Becky of Murphy, NC, sister, Lois Rogers and husband James of Ooltewah, TN, and 3 grandchildren, Brayden, Bryce and Brielle Wood. Other surviving family members include three brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, 21 nieces and nephews, and 21 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Bottomley Wood, his parents, and 2 brothers, Robert Wood and James Wood, Jr. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Riley officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Children's Miracle Network, or to the donor's choice.
