Doris Marie (Sims) Koch, born on July 13, 1936, in Watonga, Oklahoma, the cherished daughter of Woodrow and Evalena (Blevins) Sims, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 88.
Doris was united in marriage to Huldrich Koch on May 11, 1957. Together they shared a remarkable 67 years of love and devotion.
A devoted born-again Christian, Doris found joy in her faith and treasured the time she spent with her family. She had a passion for camping and fishing and delighted in creating lasting memories with those closest to her. Over the years, Doris called many places home—including Seattle, Washington; Wichita, Kansas; Omaha, Nebraska; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Hollywood, Florida; and finally, Temple, Texas—leaving behind a trail of love and warmth wherever she went.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cynthia Powell and Carolee Couch; her grandchildren Sandra Young, Amber Renes, Jacob Wheatley, Lesleigh Reynolds, Mackensie Torres, Jocelyn Couch, Kelsey Bridger, Shannon Loose, Dean Harnes, and Jordan Powell; as well as her 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Donald Koch, and her brother, Marvin W. Sims. Doris’s legacy lives on through the generations she so deeply loved and cherished.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Visitation will begin thirty minutes prior at 4:00 p.m., offering an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived.
Doris’s memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
