Donald S. Myers, 85, was escorted to his heavenly home on February 19, 2018. He was born on June 24, 1932 and was raised in Gainesville, Florida where, as a young boy, he met the love of his life, Bernice Ward. They eventually married and made their home in various locations in both the states and abroad during his 28 years of dedicated service in the U.S Army. Donald received numerous honors during his service to our country which include: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (Korea), Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Monroe Myers and Sallie Bland Myers, and his devoted wife of 52 years, Bernice Ward Myers. He is survived by his son, Michael Myers and spouse, Sherri, and daughter, Donna Myers; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and his cousin, Carrol Corneilius Myers. He was a good and kind man who was loved by many. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. All services are being handled through Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
